Panasonic plans to roll out more smartphones

Japanese conglomerate Panasonic Corporation plans to invest about Rs 400 crore during this year in India as it seeks to expand its business across different segments, including smart phones and energy solutions.
The corporation sees mobile phones business and batteries as big opportunity unfolding in the country.
Manish Sharma, Managing Director, Panasonic India, said, “The company has identified India as a high growth market. The Southern region contributes to nearly a third of the company’s overall sales in the country. We expect various businesses within Panasonic to gain share.”
The company has sewn up plans to invest about Rs 1,500 crore over the next three years towards expansion. It is aiming at revenues of about $ 3.66 billion (about Rs 22,000 crore) by 2015.
“We have recently launched a top end smart phone priced at Rs 26,500 and will shortly introduce three more smart phones priced in the Rs 15,900, Rs 12,900 and Rs 9,900. Thereafter, we will follow this up with two more models at Rs 5,990. This will be further consolidated with the roll out of other models,” he said.
“The country’s smart phone market is poised to grow significantly. We will offer a wide range of phones. We are also looking at budget phones and may introduce them following up on these launches. Panasonic is conscious of the market and demand for phones priced below Rs 5,000. We will have offerings in that segment too, he said.
Panasonic India expects to close this year with revenues of over Rs 700 crore from mobile phones business, he said.
Referring to the energy solutions market, Sharma said that the company has a wide range of batteries for the automotive sector and telecom towers and UPS segments. Apart from this, the company also plays a role in the Lithium Ion range.
“With the country gearing up to launch 4G services, the entire telecom tower network would need upgradation. This would provide Panasonic a big opportunity. In addition, we are looking at expanding our presence in the automotive business, particularly supplies to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs),” he added.

iPhone 5 vs Nexus 4 vs Galaxy S3: Who is best..?

COMPARING NEXUS 4, IPHONE 5 AND SAMSUNG GALAXY S4

LOOK WHO IS THE BEST AMONG THESE PHONES

OR BEST EVEN THE WHOLE SMARPHONE WORLD

When Samsung released the Galaxy S3 last May, it soon became a best seller. Apple unleashed the iPhone 5 to rival it in September, and the LG Nexus 4 burst onto the scene in November. Which is the best, though?
Processor: The LG Nexus 4 has a 1.5GHz Qualcomm chip, the iPhone 5 has a 1.2 A6 chip and the Samsung Galaxy S3 has a quad-core chip internationally and dual-core in the US. The iPhone 5 is the slowest of the trio on paper, but it’s still twice as fast as the 4S. The Nexus 4 has 2GB of RAM and quad cores, which bests the Galaxy S3, given that it has an option of either a dual-core/2GB setup or a quad-core/1GB. The LG Nexus 4 handset takes a win.
Display: The LG Nexus 4 has a 4.7” screen, with a 1280x768p resolution and a high ppi. The iPhone 5 has a 4” display with an unusual 1136x640p resolution and a 306ppi. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has a 4.8” Super AMOLED screen with a 1280x720p resolution. The Nexus 4 and iPhone 5 both have the naturalistic IPS tech, and the S3 has the oversaturated (to some) AMOLED looks. I personally prefer the more natural colors of IPS and hence usually skip on the hyper-real outputs of the AMOLED screens. Given that the LG Nexus 4 is IPS and the biggest one with it in this comparison, it covers all bases.
The LG Nexus 4 has 8GB and 16GB versions, but has no SD support. The iPhone 5 comes in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB options, but again, with no SD. The Samsung Galaxy S3 comes in 16GB and 32GB, but also has SD card support for up to a further 64GB – a clear win for Samsung given that it maxes out at a grand total of 96GB.
The 2,100mAh battery in the LG Nexus 4 should offer around 15 hours of usage, while the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the iPhone 5 will last for around eight hours. At least that is what the specs sheet says. However real world tests show that it is the iPhone 5 that takes the lead followed closely behind by the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Nexus 4.
If you want NFC you’ll have the Samsung Galaxy S3 and LG Nexus 4 to pick from; for LTE it’s the Galaxy S3 and the iPhone 5. So if you want both, it’s the Samsung alone!
The handsets all have 8MP rear cameras and 1080p video, LED flash and autofocus. The LG Nexus 4 and the iPhone 5 have 1.2MP front cameras, and the Galaxy S3 is 1.9MP. the BSI sensor in the iPhone 5 is still far more brilliant than its rivals in low-light conditions and so bags a win for Apple overall when it comes to cameras.
The LG Nexus 4 weighs 129g and is 133.9mmx68.7mmx9.1mm; the Samsung Galaxy S3 weighs 122g and measures 136.6×70.6mmx8.6mm. The Apple iPhone 5 is the lightest, at 112g, and the smallest in dimensions so it wins out here.
If you’re an Android fan, the LG Nexus 4 is an obvious choice as it has the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update and will get updated faster and more frequently than the Galaxy S3, which has only just left ICS behind. The iPhone 5 runs on iOS 6, which offers a streamlined, stable platform. Android gives you a lot of room for personalization, and with the Nexus 4, the promise of speedy updates. So it’s a clear choice between the LG Nexus 4 and the iPhone 5 only.

Bottom line

For ease of use you can’t beat the iPhone 5 and iOS 6. Smaller budgets might appreciate the LG Nexus 4, despite the lack of LTE and comfortable internal storage size. For the best all-rounder though you have to look at the Galaxy S3, with its multitude of smart features and a fair price tag. It’s the oldest, but it’s still in the lead in my books.

Google Nexus 5 Could Feature 8-Core Odin If LG Gets Sequel

Google Nexus 5 Could Feature 8-Core Odin If LG Gets Sequel

LG have been very busy releasing new hardware and there are now rumours that they could be about to reveal an 8-core Odin processor with their next smartphones.
There were rumours going around before the announcement of the LG Optimus G Pro about the company finishing work on the 8-core processor and this will feature in the device if timing worked out. However the LG Optimus G Pro launched with a quad-core processor. Now all eyes are on the next Optimus device to get the Odin chipset.
The processor, which has the codename of Odin, will be put into mass production later this year. It is said that the chip will have the ARM big.LITTLE processor and this is what Samsung use in the Exynos 5 Octa processor. This is manufactured with the 28nm High K Metal Gate fabrication tech.
It will have support for full HD at 1920 x 1080 and it is has been said that it will not come with a baseband modem and that it might work with four Cortex A15 cores. These would deal with tasks that are heavy and the other four Cortex A7 cores would be used for the daily tasks.
At the moment we don’t know which device will get this processor but word on the street is that it will be the successor to the current LG Optimus G. The LG Optimus G is selling quite well currently and the same can be said about its Nexus variation, the LG Nexus 4, which is almost identical in terms of hardware.
If the LG Optimus G sequel does get the octa-core chipset, we may also be lucky enough to see the Google Nexus 5 get the same privilege, that is if LG gets a second shot at a pure Google phone just like Samsung did. Given that the LG Nexus 4 was unveiled in November, it is safe to assume the same will happen with the Google Nexus 5 this year. That would tie in with the chip production as well. We can dream can’t we?

Mobile Review: Nokia Lumia 720 is a mid-range bonanza

NOKIA LUMIA 720 , MID RANGE PHONE

The Nokia Lumia 720 has hit the markets last month and a lot of people are wondering if it’s worth the money.
The smartphone is the technology giant’s mid-range Lumia smartphone that seems to conveniently fall good on the pockets with its decent price of Rs 18,990 while it still manages to look pretty chic.
My experience with the phone for two weeks has been quite satisfactory. With its sturdy design, colourful appearance, satisfactory long battery life and light weight; the phone has an impressive build.
Key Specifications of the phone
* 4.3-inch IPS ClearBlack display
* Snapdragon S4 dual-core 1GHz processor
* 512MB RAM
* 8GB internal storage expandable up to 64GB via microSD card
* 6.7-megapixel rear camera
* 1.3-megapixel front camera
* Bluetooth 3.0,NFC,Wi-Fi, 3G
* 2000mAH battery
* Windows Phone 8
* 127.9x67.5x9 mm
* 128 grams
First ImpressionsThe phone with its bright colours looks classy and sleek. It is available in white, red, yellow and cyan/black catering to different personalities.
The camera is a definite thumbs-up. The 6.7 megapixel rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics and low-light imaging is quite good for everyday photography. Even though low-light imaging might not be as advanced in quality as the 920, it is very user satisfactory.
The phone is a decent sandwich between the Nokia Lumia 520 and Nokia Lumia 920. In terms of design and build it looks like the much-lighter version of 920. The 920 was ridiculed for its weight whereas the 720 fits perfectly in the hand. Even with its rich features and specs, the phone still is pocket friendly like the 520.
The only setback is the 512 MB RAM.
Initially, Temple Run 2, a very popular game required at least 1GB on Windows Phone for it to run smoothly. However, now Temple Run 2 is available on Windows Phones with 512 MB RAM and an external memory that goes up to 64 GB of storage, that little flaw does not cause so much hindrance.
A big hindrance personally was the absence of Vine and Instagram on the App store of the Windows Phone. Being an avid user of both the apps, it was a disappointment to not have them on my phone.
Feel and look of the phoneIt’s easy to fall in love with the phone. There is something beautiful about the matt colour finish, the size of the screen and the creative display of the Windows Phone UI is pleasing to the eyes.
With respect to the button and speaker placements, it is pretty much similar to the other recent members of the Nokia Lumia smartphones .
It is small enough to fit into a tight jean pockets while the display screen is big enough to enjoy a movie.
DisplayWith its 4.3-inch display of 480x800 pixels resolution, translating to a density of 217 pixels per inch, the phone makes the movie-watching-experience worthwhile. It’s definitely not HD quality, but still it's sharp, clear, and bright; and displays movies, websites and pictures intelligently.
The viewing angles and outdoor visibility is impressive. The reading experience is good enough as the UI font is pleasing to the eye.
The front is covered by a sheet of tough, scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass that protects the IPS touchscreen.
CameraAs mentioned earlier, the camera with its low light imaging feature is a definite plus. A 1.3 megapixel front camera does a neat job for video calls and selfies .
The video quality is not bad at all and the built-in mic captures sound fairly smartly .
Apart from this, the camera has a lot of settings like the still picture scene, Smart Shoot, Cinemagraph, Nokia Glam me, panorama and Bing vision to play around with.
BatteryUnlike almost all the Android phones, the battery life on this Lumia phone is reasonably long. It was fully operational for about an average of 16 hours before there was a need to charge. All applications ran smoothly without any hiccups. In the span of those hours, music and games were also played heavily.
Should you buy it?Nokia Lumia 720 is definitely worth the price. With its features  and satisfactory battery life , the phone can be an ideal everyday companion. Even though, the Windows Phone operating system still has a long way to go, unless you are hardcore app market user, this phone provides you with all your basic smartphone requirements.
If you are a heavy Instagram or Vine app user, then this phone is definitely not meant for you.
Apart from the average operating system, there is no other major deterrent. If you’re looking for a smartphone that looks good, decently light on the pockets, camera that does not disappoint and has a long satisfying battery life, this phones a definite no-brainer

A GREAT AND AMAZING DISPLAY FROM LG

LG launches worlds slimmest full-HD LCD panel for smartphones

LG Display has launched the world's thinnest full-HD LCD panel for smartphones.
The Korean company has announced the thinnest 1080p and 5.2-inch (132 mm) display LCD panel ever. It’s only 2.2mm thick and has  2.3mm bezel.
The display also features a full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and LG Display claims that the screen will provide good visibility under strong sunlight. The screen can also manage 535 nits of brightness.
It's likely that LG is using the same panel in its upcoming flagship smartphone LG Optimus G2 which was recently spotted in leaked pictures and video.
